If you’re a resident in the Portuguese territory or a non-resident who derives income from the territory, you’re liable to the Personal Income Tax or IRS, and now is the time to get all the complex information sorted out for a hassle free IRS form submission. For the dependent employment and pensioner form submission, March 2015 is the month to do so but only in person. If you prefer to submit the forms electronically, April 2015 is your deadline. Beware that if you are over 90 days late in submitting, you won’t be entitled to claim any tax deductions or reductions.
Just so you know, this tax is levied on the yearly amount of income comprised in the categories enumerated below after the appropriate deductions and allowances:
• Category A – Earned income from dependent employment
• Category B – Business and professional income
• Category E – Income from capital
• Category F – Real estate income
• Category G – Increases in wealth
• Category H – Pensions
